Tips to Stay Comfy as Temperatures Rise
Warmer temps have arrived in Utah and, if you're like most people, you're probably looking for ways to stay cool and comfortable during the warmer months. Here are a few tips from CTR Heating & Air Conditioning to help you beat the heat and stay comfortable in your home:
1. Use your air conditioner. This may seem like a no-brainer, but it's important to use your air conditioner when it's hot outside. Your air conditioner will help to cool your home down and make it more comfortable. And, speaking of your AC, it’s a good time to make sure it’s in tip-top shape. A dirty air conditioner won't work as efficiently, which can make it harder to keep your home cool. If you need help getting your home’s AC ready for summer, we’re here to help.
2. Seal up any air leaks. Air leaks can let hot air in and cool air out, which can make it harder to keep your home cool. Take a walk around your home and look for any cracks or gaps around windows, doors, and vents. Seal up any leaks with caulk or weatherstripping.
3. Install a smart/programmable thermostat. A smart thermostat or programmable thermostat can help you save energy by automatically adjusting the temperature of your home when you're asleep or away. This can save you money on your energy bill, and it can also help to keep your home more comfortable.
4. Use window shades and blinds. During the day, we like to keep our blinds open and let all that glorious sunshine in. But that can also lead to warmer temps inside your home. Lowering your window shades and closing blinds can help to keep the sun out of your home, which can help to keep it cooler.
5. Plant trees. This is a long-term solution, but trees can provide shade for your home, which can help to keep it cooler. If you don't have any trees on your property, you can plant some. Just be sure to choose trees that are native to your area.
6. Open your windows at night. The air is cooler at night than it is during the day, so opening your windows at night can help to cool your home down. Just be sure to close your windows in the morning to keep the hot air out. We also recommend keeping windows closed if you plan to run your AC at night.
7. Use fans. Fans can help to circulate the air in your home, which can help to keep it cooler. You can use ceiling fans, table fans, or floor fans. Fans tend to cool people not spaces so remember to kick on the AC so the fans aren’t just moving warm air.
By following these tips, you can keep your home comfortable and cool this summer. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact CTR Heating & Air Conditioning. With online scheduling and open availability, we’re here when you need us.
