We talk a lot about the importance of a good media filter and how important it is to make sure you are changing your filter regularly to ensure tip-top performance from your home’s comfort system. Unlike a standard 1” filter, media filters do a much better job giving you clean air and are one of the highest quality filters available for homes. They catch all sorts of particles and contaminants in the air, stopping stuff like mold, pollen, dust, dirt, pet dander, smoke and other contaminants.

Media filters are mounted on a return duct line on your home’s HVAC system. They protect against particulates from entering your home through the air system. Media air filters last much longer than a basic 1” air filter along with being more effective in a number of ways. The primary difference in a media filter and a typical air filter in most HVAC systems is its size. Media filters are 4-5 inches thick compared to a 1” filter. This is part of its better output and efficiency.

Next up, you’ll want to search for your filter. There are a lot of ways you can shop, but using the “nominal (labeled) size” dropdown is probably the easiest. Simply pick the size of filter using your old filter as a reference. If you don’t have he old filter or if you are unsure of the size, you can also shop by the model of your air handler or the actual size of the filter (when measured with a ruler or measuring tape). If all else fails, give us a call and we’ll happily help you identify the right filter for your system.

Once you’ve found the right filter, you’ll have a choice to buy it as a single filter, or you can opt to save even more by cording a pack of two or more (quantities will vary by filter). If you buy a multi-pack, you’ll start seeing big savings!
